FULL FACE OF FIRST IMPRESSIONS: BRANDS I’VE NEVER HEARD OF BEFORE

Hey guys!

Recently, I’ve been to a drugstore and noticed a makeup section with makeup brands which are not very wide-spread in my country and not talked about on the Internet. So I decided to try them out and share my opinion. I tried to do a makeup look with these products, so let’s see how it turned out.

And, before we start, I decided to give you a little bit of info on these brands:

Lamel Professional is a British makeup brand which launched in 2010 in London. According to their website, their basic concept “was to create a high-quality product at an affordable price” (well, will see if their products fit their concept)

Wibo is a Polish makeup brand which was founded in 1989 and it has a veeery long history (you can read the brand history on their website)

Bellaoggi is an Italian brand established in 1989. I can’t tell much because I couldn’t find how to switch language on their website

Lovely is also a Polish makeup brand and as I understood it’s owned by Wibo. You can check out their website here.

Foundation and concealer

I start off with… no, not with a bare face because, apparently, most drugstore brands ignore pale people like me.But luckily, I’ve found a concealer so it will be our first item. It’s Lamel Professional Naked Skin Fashion Makeup Color Correcting Fluid (wow, that’s a mouthful) in the shade 01 (light beige). I applied it under my eyes,  the center of my face and some spots I have now. This concealer is light-weight and has light coverage. It slightly covered my dark circles (thank godness, I slept well and didn’t look like a zombie) and some spots I had, though they were still visible. However, if you have really dark circles (mine are not that dark, to be honest) or need to cover pimples or spots on your face, Lamel concealer is not the best choice.

As you can see, it doesn’t have high coverage

I applied the concealer like I would normally do: under eyes, on high points of the face and on some spots that need extra coverage. Blended out with a beauty sponge

Powder

Next one is powder. I have Wibo Rice Powder Total Matt Effect. It’s a loose translucent powder and it doesn’t have a smell. I really really like this powder, it made my face matte, covered my pores and set makeup well.

Eyebrows

Let’s move to eyebrows. And here’s where this makeup starts to turn into a fail. I’ve decided to try something other than eyebrow powders or pencils so I grabbed Lamel Professional Perfect Brow Kit in the shade 03. It consists of liner on the one side and gel on another. Okay, what can I say… Forget about natural-looking brows with this product. I mean, you can achieve a natural brow look (kind of) if you use the gel side only but the liner side… It’s literally liner. Only a thick one. Maybe I’m just not good at drawing eyebrows (which is true, actually) but this product made my brows so bold and strange-looking that I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror without laughing. Thank godness, I have bangs to cover my embarrassment for the rest of the post (I’m not going anywhere with these reddish caterpillars on my face).

Honestly, I couldn’t even look at the camera because I started laughing every single time!

Eyeshadows

Moving on, I have the Wibo Go Nude Sex Appeal Edition. Am I the only one who gets Urban Decay Naked vibes? I don’t own the original Naked so I can’t make a decent comparison but, judging by photos, Wibo palette definitely looks similar to Naked (and it looks almost identical to the Makeup Revolution one I reviewed in one of my previous posts which you can read here). Not only shades, the packaging also remind me of UD ones. The palette has a mirror inside but it’s apparently distorted. Brands like Essence taught me that low price doesn’t equal low quality but I still was surprised at how good these eyeshadows actually are. Here are finger swatches of this palette.

I primed my eyelids with the concealer(because I don’t have any primer) and, since this palette doesn’t have a light matte color, I set it with powder. This palette is a bit out of my comfort zone so I tried to do my best to come up with a decent eye look. The only two matte shades are Sand and Brick. I used Sand as a transition shade with a blending side of a brush which comes with a palette. Then I used Gold Bar on the inner half of my upper and lower eyelids and Sexiness on the outer half. Nude went into the corners as a highlight. The shades blended greatly, shimmers are really pigmented and there was no fallout.

Eyeliner

For eyeliner, I’ve bought Bellaoggi Marker Liner. It’s a regular felt tip eyeliner, which I’m honestly not a fan of because I find brush tip eyeliners more appealing. It did its job pretty well, however, the second wing turned out not as pigmented as the first one, seems like it dried out a bit.

These brows… I can’t with them lol

Mascara

Finishing eye makeup off with mascara. I’ve picked Bellaoggi HD Mascara. As I understood (because everything on the tube is in Italian), this is an elongating mascara. I’m not a big fan of elongating ones (I’m volumizing mascaras girl) but this one is pretty good, especially for natural makeup days. It has fiber brush, which I like. However, I feel like my lashes stuck to each other a bit, but it’s not a big problem for me.

Contour, blush, and highlighter

For this step, I have Wibo 3 Steps To Perfect Face Contour Palette. I’m not sure what the shade is but I suppose it’s light. The contour shade looks more like bronzer and in spite of me not contouring or bronzing my face at all I still want to try it(I’m praying for my face not becoming a mess right now, brows are enough). It’s not very pigmented which is good, cause I didn’t ruin my face makeup, though you can definitely build it up. The blush is stunning! It’s more on the corally side and has golden shiny particles in it. Unfortunately, you have to have perfect skin to use this since it emphasized my pores but apart from this, it looked beautiful. Can’t say anything special about the highlighter. It’s beautiful and more on the blinding side.

For some reason, contour shade is waaay cooler on camera than in real life

Lips

Finishing the makeup off with lipstick. Okay, here I’ve gone a bit crazy and bought 3 different. I think that Lamel Velvet Cream 12 Hours Soft Matte Lip Cream (gosh, these guys love super long names) in the shade 05 suits this look best but I’ll swatch the other two as well. What can I say, this Lamel lipstick has a potential to become one of my favorite red lipsticks. It’s creamy, pigmented, opaque and not drying at all! It dries pretty quickly but it’s not transfer-proof.

In real life, this lipstick looks much redder (like on the swatch above)

The other two lipsticks are actually lip kits by Lovely – K*lips (I won’t say anything) in shades Sweety and Pink Poison. They are pretty similar but Pink Poison is more on the nude side and Sweety is more pink.

Again, I won’t say anything about the concept of this packaging.

So, here was my Full face using only brands I’ve never heard of before! As you already saw, there were some hits and misses (these brows will chase me in my nightmares!). Things I liked the most are the Wibo eyeshadow palette and lipsticks (especially the Lamel one); the brow product and concealer were pretty disappointing.

I wanted to say that “Full face using only …” from now one will be a series on my blog. I already have some ideas and I’m excited to share them with you. I think it’s a good opportunity to know more about brands and find out which products are hot and which are not so much.

Anyway, that’s all for my today’s post! Hope you all have an amazing day and, if not, I’m sending you lots of love to cheer you up a little bit.

Till next time!

Bye∼

  1. I love wandering into a drug store and finding brands which are uncommon! Of course, like you said you get hit and misses!
I usually find the cheaper the make up, the worse it gets. However if you are on a budget I’m pretty sure you could make them work!

I love all the pictures you took for this post! I like that eye shadow palette! I want one like this, all mine seem to lack in colours.
I also hate when you get eyeliners and they dry up after the second use or even the second eye!!! I had one recently, an eyebrow pen and no ink came out after I did my first brow. Boo!

Anyways, great post and lush pictures as always :)!!!

    1. I would agree that cheaper makeup tends to lack in quality but there are some hidden gems (like Essence and Catrice, their products are pretty cheap but quality is on point).

Drying out eyeliners are so frustrating! Some times they can ruin a whole look just because the second wing becomes the “ugly sister” (lol). Omg, that eyebrow pen is awful! No ink after one eyebrow? Seems like a total rip off to me!

      Thank you, Kelly💕

  2. You are the first person I have seen mention the pale girl problems in a post!! Isn’t in the most frustrating thing? I once tried the most pale foundation in a specific brand/range and I still looked like I had an orange face! Have you tried the shade light porcelean? It’s what I use (believe it or not it is still a touch darker that my skin pretty much unnoticeable though!) Great honest post! Xx

    1. Ikr? It’s one of the most frustrating things ever! I feel like I tried every single drugstore foundation out there and couldn’t find anything matching! I’m usuing Korean bb-creams by Missha in the lightest shade and they work perfectly for me!
Thank you for the comment xx

  3. I loved this! I’m excited to see this as a series! I didn’t think the brows were that bad! I love drug store products but that’s probably because I’m cheap!

  4. I love this idea! You are very courageous to dive into new brands like that all at once – I barely manage to coordinate one new eye shadow haha!
Eyebrows are so important and so hard to get right. I don’t think they look unnatural in the pictures, but I get that they might be the camera. But you discovered so many good products! The lip color especially looks gorgeous on you!

    1. Thank you, Evy! I was a bit nervous about trying this products all at once and that’s why I chose to do it on my free day. But, as you said, I was lucky and discovered really good products! Eyebrows don’t look that bad but irl they looked like they were drawn with a sharpie haha!

  5. Oh my gosh, you’re absolutely adorable! Anyway, I love it when people talk about small brands that are not widely known! Love this post ❤

  7. Loved this have never heard of any of the brands going too check and see if i can get the lamel online as i like the sound of their lipsticks. I think there is alot of copying going on in one brand in particular with its naked eye type vibes and k lips having a similar mouth the colours looked good though. Loved this.

  8. The Wibo eyeshadow palette looks great! I own the Makeup Revolution Dupe for the Naked palette and the ‘Sand’ and ‘Brick’ shades of the wibo palette are what I use the most for some really natural shading on my eyelids along with another darker shade when I want to be a little fancier. This type of post sounds like a great idea for experimentation!

    1. Thank you, Dani! I’ve been using this powder every single day and it’s great! Had no breakouts or clogged pores and seems like I’m not as oily at the end of the day as usually

  9. This is so cool & I don’t think I’ve never seen this kind of blog series on other beauty bloggers. I think everything looks great on you, well except for the eyebrow product of course; but everything looks amazing especially the Lamel lipstick, I live for that kind of red lipstick!! I’d definitely watch out for more of this! xo, Mary.

  10. I love these type of posts – I used to be a make up artist way back, and I many of us had drugstore products that were just so good we wouldn’t trade them for expensive brands, Usually the drugstore week spot were eyes shadows (not pigmented enough) I love seeing that new brands are bringing it even with eye shadows. I love how you “didn’t say anything” about the K lips 🙂

  11. I love drug store make up because they have such a large variety and it’s actually decent quality. I’ve never heard of any of the brands you mentioned but from what you said and showed in your images, they seem like great products and I’d be more than happy to give them a go if I ever came across them. I love the choice of lip colour on you, it suits you so well. Thanks for sharing sweetie xx
