Hey everyone!

Halloween is just around the corner. People already have their costumes prepared and party preparations finished. But what can people do if they are introverts and don’t like to hang out or it’s not common to celebrate Halloween in their country, like in mine? Of course, you can scroll your Instagram or Twitter feed, look at photos from parties and Halloween festivals, like in Shibuya, Tokyo, and cry (like I do). But why not create Halloween atmosphere at home by lighting candles, making yourself a cup of your favorite tea, coffee or hot chocolate and watching a Halloween film?

In this last-minute Halloween post, I wanted to share with you 5 movies that, in my opinion, are perfect for this holiday. I tried to choose films from different genres so, hopefully, you can find something for yourself!

Coraline (2009)

I haven’t seen this animated movie till not long time ago but I definitely will rewatch it every Halloween. It tells about Caroline Jones, a little adventurous girl, who finds the door to another world in her new house. The style, music, characters – everything in this movie is amazing! The atmosphere changes throughout the movie depending on the plot development and closer to the end of the movie really gave me goosebumps (which is rare). Perfect for this spooky time of the year!

Hocus Pocus  (1993)

I remember watching this movie when I was a little girl and being absolutely obsessed with it. The story of this hilarious trio of witches, Winnie, Mary and Sarah Sanderson, found its place in my heart and tightly settled there. I’m not a child anymore (well, maybe I still am) and see that this film is not perfect and why it has low ratings but, nonetheless, I enjoy every time I rewatch this movie. Maybe it’s the power of nostalgia? Who knows.

The Addams Family (1991)

I love, no, I LOVE dark comedies and one of my all-time favorites is “The Addams Family”. I don’t even want to count how many times I watched this movie. Ever since I’ve seen it for the first time I’m in love with this family and with this story. The atmosphere, music, humor and cast are great and the movie overall is perfect for Halloween! In addition, I absolutely adore Wednesday Addams, played by Christina Ricci, so maybe I should dress as her next Halloween…

Corpse Bride (2005)

One more animated movie in my top. What can I do if animation is my little weakness. I was hesitating what to include – Corpse Bride or another animated masterpiece, The Nightmare Before Christmas. Since many people write and speak about the latter, I decided to include Corpse Bride here. It, like Coraline, has stop-motion animation style, which I find so adorable and perfect for this type of movies. Moreover, the music was written by Danny Elfman, whose music can be heard in many cult movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Alice in Wonderland and many others. If you haven’t seen Corpse Bride yet, definitely find some time to watch it.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)

If you asked me what I like as much as animated movies and horrors, my answer would definitely be “Musicals”. I’m ready to watch musicals again and again, singing along with the characters. Especially if it is a horror musical like Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. This movie tells a dramatic story of a barber Benjamin Barker who adopts the alias “Sweeney Todd” and returns to his old barber shop on Fleet Street after being falsely convicted and exiled 15 years prior. Johnny Depp, playing the role of Sweeney Todd, is awesome and the atmosphere is perfect for Halloween.

So, that was my top-5 films that are perfect for Halloween. Of course there are a lot more movies, which I enjoy watching during spooky holiday season, but I don’t want to make this post too long.

Please, tell me in the comments have you seen movies from my list? Did you like them? Also share movies, which in your opinion are perfect for Halloween!

Thank you for reading and have a lot of fun this Halloween!
